Iga Swiatek proved to be too strong for Emma Raducanu as the Pole beat the Brit 6-4, 6-4 at the quarterfinals of the Stuttgart Open.
World No.1 Iga Swiatek continued her incredible 2022 season by beating Emma Raducanu in straight sets in the quarterfinals of the Stuttgart Open. Fans on social media also reacted to the Pole’s stunning display against the British No.1 star.
With her victory against Raducanu, Swiatek extended her win streak to 21 matches. She also inched closer to a fourth consecutive title by making it to the semifinals of the Stuttgart Open. By winning 6-4, 6-4 Swiatek also equalled the record of winning 28 consecutive sets, matching Serena Williams.
On the other hand, it was back to the drawing board for Raducanu, who did put up a fight but her inexperience on the clay court showed. The 19-year-old had no answer for Swiatek’s relentlessness as the former French Open champion cruised to victory.
Fans on Twitter praised Raducanu for putting up a fight against Swiatek, but they were also curious to know who would be able to end the Pole’s current dominance. Swiatek, who inherited the No.1 spot from Ash Barty, looks unstoppable now and it seems only a matter of time before she wins her fourth consecutive title.
One fan commented, “Wow! Raducanu was no real match for Iga Swiatek on clay, who is gonna stop her now?” while another added, “I don’t see Iga dropping another set for a long time on the clay court.”
