Predicted Tottenham Hotspur XI to face Leicester in the Premier League
Tottenham take on Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday at Wembley as they look to close in on second-placed Liverpool.
Spurs beat Newcastle at Wembley, thanks to a late goal from Son Heung-min. Pochettino will hope his team delivers a solid performance against the Foxes, who lost the reverse fixture at the King Power Stadium.
Team News
Tottenham are struggling with goals lately with skipper Harry Kane out with injury until the start of March. Dele Alli is also out until the second week of March due to a thigh injury. Left-back Ben Davies is also ruled out with a groin strain.
Probable Tottenham XI
Manager: Mauricio Pochettino
Formation: 4-3-3
Hugo Lloris (GK)
The skipper is the undisputed first-choice in goal for Tottenham and has started 21 games this season. The Frenchman has kept 9 clean sheets this season and is set to start against Leicester.
Kieran Trippier (RB)
The 28-year-old has 3 assists and a goal in 20 appearances this season. His ability to take set pieces makes him a must-have in the team.
Davinson Sanchez (CB)
The Colombian’s speed, power and aerial dominance are a must have especially against a player like Jamie Vardy.
Jan Vertonghen (CB)
The Belgian started at left back last weekend against Newcastle but is expected to return to his natural position.
Danny Rose (LB)
Rose came on as a substitute against Newcastle at Wembley for the last 12 minutes of the game. The 28-year-old should be back in the starting XI for the weekend’s game.
Eric Dier (LCM)
Since his return from injury, Dier has failed to start a game for Spurs. He came off the bench against Newcastle and Fulham but was an unused substitute against Watford. The Englishman might get a start this weekend.
Victor Wanyama (CDM)
The Kenyan has missed a major part of the season due to injury but returned to the bench against Newcastle and could be handed his first start since November against Leicester.
Moussa Sissoko (RCM)
The former Newcastle man has started the last 2 games and is expected to keep his place in the team this weekend as well.
Eric Lamela (RW)
With the Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund coming up, Pochettino will be tempted to rest star midfielder Christian Eriksen and use Lamela on the right wing at the weekend.
Lucas Moura (LW)
The Brazilian came back from injury and played 45 mins against Watford. He also played 60 mins against Newcastle last week and he is expected to start again on Sunday. Lucas and Lamela will switch positions throughout the game and cause problems to Claude Puel’s men.
Fernando Llorente (ST)
With injury to Harry Kane, Llorente is the only natural striker available for Pochettino. With Son having played many games for club and country over the last few weeks, Pochettino should rest the South Korean and start Llorente.
