Predicted 4-3-3 Manchester United line-up to face Chelsea in the Premier League
Alexis Sanchez’s header in the last minute of regulation time completed a remarkable comeback for Manchester United and secured three invaluable points for Jose Mourinho against Newcastle. It was a huge confidence booster for the team, heading into the international break.
Although United put an end to their four-game winless streak against the Magpies, Jose Mourinho’s men will be up for an uphill battle when they make the trip to the Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea. Chelsea have been in tremendous form this season and are currently unbeaten in the Premier League.
After a 3-0 humiliation at the hands of Spurs earlier in the season, this is Mourinho’s second test against a top quality side. It will be worth watching whether United can build on the positives from their inspirational win before the international break.
Team News
Luke Shaw missed the UEFA Nations League game for England due to a minor injury but is likely to be fit for the weekend. Ander Herrera is back in contention while Marcos Rojo and Jesse Lingard are yet to recover from their respective injuries. Nemanja Matic, who missed the game for Serbia as a precautionary measure, is likely to be fit to face his former club.
Probable Manchester United XI
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Jose Mourinho
David de Gea (GK)
He is an automatic selection for Jose Mourinho. The Spaniard has always been a reliable presence between the sticks and will start this all-important clash.
Ashley Young (RB)
He made a couple of mistakes in the previous game but provided the cross from which Sanchez scored the winner. He is likely to start on Saturday.
Chris Smalling (CB)
He has been the brightest spark in a rather faltering unit at the back and United will bank heavily on him to deliver the goods at the weekend.
Victor Lindelof (CB)
He hasn’t been solid by any means but Mourinho might give him a start ahead of Eric Bailly, who was taken off after just 19 minutes in the last game.
Luke Shaw (LB)
Solid at the back and influential in the other half, Luke Shaw will play a key role for the Red Devils against Chelsea.
Marouane Fellaini (CDM)
Mourinho is likely to give Fellaini a start on Saturday to combat the threat of N’Golo Kante in the midfield.
Paul Pogba (RCM)
The Frenchman inspired the team to a comeback win last time around and will once again hold the key to United’s success at the weekend.
Nemanja Matic (LCM)
He has done a good job as a shield for the rearguard and has kept things ticking with his flawless passing. He is expected to start against his former club.
Alexis Sanchez (LW)
He is likely to start against Chelsea after his heroics in the previous game and Anthony Martial could be the unlucky man to miss out despite playing reasonably well.
Marcus Rashford (RW)
Scored for England against Spain with a clinical finish and United will be hoping that he does something similar against Chelsea.

Romelu Lukaku (ST)
He hasn’t been in the best of forms in the Premier League but netted twice for his country in the UEFA Nations League. United will be looking up to him to spearhead the attack.
