Expect a riveting clash when Casper Ruud and Feliz Auger-Aliassime lock horns in the quarter-final stage of the Canadian Open 2022.
Casper Ruud
The Norwegian youngster is looking to bag his first ATP Masters 1000 title. He has come into the Canadian Open tournament on the back of a triumphant Swiss Open campaign where he dropped just one set. Last year, Ruud’s journey in Montreal was halted by Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinal. The 23-year-old will be hoping to progress much further this year.
Ruud, who is ranked no. 7 in the world, won his first match against Alex Molcan in straight sets 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. He had his task cut out in the round of 16 when he faced Robert Bautista Agut. The Spaniard won the first set but Ruud got his act together to win the next two to progress into the quarterfinals.
Felix Auger-Aliassime
Felix Auger-Aliassime has looked quite impressive in Montreal thus far. He began with a win against Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets. In the second round, the young Canadian defeated Cameron Norrie, who has already won two titles this season.
The 22-year-old has reached the quarter-final stage for the first time on home soil. With his victory, Auger-Aliassime is up to seventh in the Pepperstone ATP Race To Turin.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
Feliz Auger-Aliassime and Casper Ruud will know each other quite well. They have faced each other on 4 occasions with the head-to-head scoreline tied at 2-2.
Predicting the outcome of this match is a tough one but we might see the home favorite getting the win in a three-set affair.
