Fans react to T.J. Dillashaw calling himself the best bantamweight of all time
T.J. Dillashaw has landed the opportunity of a lifetime to make amends for his misdoings in the past. Dillashaw was stripped of the bantamweight championship in 2019 after testing positive for a banned substance, erythropoietin, in the drug tests for his UFC flyweight championship bout against Henry Cejudo. He received a two-year suspension and made his comeback in 2021. He will face bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling in an attempt to become the three-time 135 lbs. champion of the UFC.
Dillashaw competed in the 2011 season of the Ultimate Fighter. In 2014, he won the UFC bantamweight championship by dethroning Renan Barão and snapping his 32-fight unbeaten streak. Dillashaw lost the title to Dominick Cruz by a split decision in 2016 before regaining it against Cody Garbrandt in 2017.
Dillashaw returned after his two-year-long suspension to face the division’s talented young prospect Cory Sandhagen. The American won the back-and-forth contest by split decision.
Recently he posted a bunch of credentials on Twitter that advocate his claim of being the greatest bantamweight fighter ever. He captioned the post:
“When they ask why I consider myself the best Bantamweight of all time… who do you consider the best bantamweight of all time!?! #justgettingstarted #UFC280”

Another fan wrote: “@DominickCruz ofc, he managed to make you salty when you guys fought & made you fight frustrated & more importantly he has never cheated.”
