WWE announced a new ThunderDome would be up for this Friday’s SmackDown
WWE confirmed that ThunderDome is a new concept they would be bringing ahead of SummerSlam.
A release from the promotion added that SmackDown on Friday would first see the debut of the concept.
WWE is trying to bring fans closer to the action as they have been kept away due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The release stated that there would be “state-of-the-art set, video boards, pyrotechnics, lasers, cutting-edge graphics and drone cameras” to take fans’ experience to another level.
Kevin Dunn, WWE Executive Vice President, Television Production added that this would deliver an “immersive atmosphere and generate more excitement amongst the millions of fans watching.”
WWE added that they would be shifting locations for a while too. The Amway Center in Orlando will be home for all WWE shows except NXT related ones.
SmackDown, Raw and PPVs will be shown from the Amway Center rather than the Performance Center as has been done in recent months.
NXT shows and PPVs should continue to be from Full Sail, unless indicated by WWE.
WWE added that they would continue producing shows on closed sets with only essential personnel featuring.
WWE stars cannot wait for ThunderDome
While the NBA and many other sports have done similar acts for their fans, it will be interesting to see what else WWE are planning for ThunderDome.
The sound does sound nice and it got many WWE stars excited too. While the fans should be coming closer to the action like never before, the wrestlers too want in on the action.
Here are some reactions from a few WWE stars:

WWE has a chance of doing something great with this concept, and all eyes will be on SmackDown to see what goes on.
