Leicester City claimed all three points with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Burnley at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.
With Burnley in desperate need of a positive result to steer themselves to safety in the top-flight, Sean Dyche’s side showed more intent right from the very beginning. The Foxes had the worst possible start to the game, with Harry Maguire sent off in the 4th minute for a professional foul on Johann Berg Gudmundsson just outside the box. The Icelandic international hit the post from his resultant free-kick and the Foxes managed to survive an early scare.
Brendan Rodgers sacrificed Demarai Gray to bring on Wes Morgan to fill in the gap at the heart of the defence but Burnley continued their dominance on the proceedings. Chris Wood ran clear through on goal, only to be denied by a last-ditch challenge from Wilfred Ndidi. Wood was once again in the thick of things, with the New Zealander firing his header just wide of the post from Gudmundsson’s cross.
Leicester needed a piece of inspiration to get back into the game and James Maddison produced a bit of magic to put the Foxes in front, curling a fantastic free-kick over the wall and into the top right-hand corner of Tom Heaton’s goal. The visitors had the game well under control despite having a man down and Burnley were forced to sit back and absorb the pressure for a while.
Burnley, though, found the equaliser before half time. Jonny Evans gave the ball away inside his own half and Charlie Taylor, left with acres of space down the left, teed it up for Dwight McNeil who swept it past Kasper Schmeichel to draw the Clarets level.
Jamie Vardy created lots of problems for the Burnley defence with his enthusiasm to get in behind the backline but it was Maddison who tested Heaton with a routine effort from range early in the second half.
Burnley managed to have more of the ball in the second half and dictated the tempo but they lacked the final pass to create clear-cut chances. The home fans might have felt that they should have had a penalty when Charlie Taylor was brought down inside the box by Ndidi, with replays showing that the Nigerian had probably clipped left-back.
Leicester, though, defied their numerical disadvantage and found the winner in injury-time. Substitute Wes Morgan headed it home from close range in the 91st minute to hand the Foxes all three points.

While Brendan Rodgers should be a pleased man after bagging those three points, Burnley still have plenty of work to do if they are to avoid relegation.
