Born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Caroline Garcia moved with her family to Bron, a suburb of Lyon, soon after. Her father, Louis-Paul Garcia is a former sales manager whose family originates from the Spanish Costa Blanca region and Mylene. Caroline has no siblings. Louis-Paul trained his daughter until 2021. Mary Lene Garcia, Caroline’s mother, also provided good support to the talented player.

The tall Frenchwoman turned pro in 2011. In the same year, she reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon and the finals of the US Open as a junior. She reached her highest junior ranking of No. 5 on 12 December 2011.

At the 2011 Australian Open, Garcia received a wildcard and defeated Varvara Lepchenko in the first round in her first appearance in the main draw of a WTA tournament. In the following round, she lost to Ayumi Morita.

At the 2011 French Open, Garcia received a wildcard and defeated Zuzana Ondraskova in straight sets in the first round. One of Garcia’s best performances in a losing cause came in the following match against the legendary Maria Sharapova. The youngster led 6-3, 4-1 but Sharapova used her experience and class to win 11 games in a row and progress further. However, Garcia was hailed by fans as well as critics for her performance.
