Multiple reports suggest that Howard will earn a mammoth $90 million over five years in Miami, at an average of $19 million per year. He can make another $5 million in upside. The deal will make Howard the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

The three-time Pro Bowler had previously been signed to the Dolphins on a team friendly deal. He was the 36th overall pick at the 2016 NFL Draft. But his patience with the team seems to have eventually paid off, quite literally.

Howard led the NFL in interceptions twice, which included his career-high of 10 picks in 2020. He also led the NFL with 20 passes defensed that season. Last season, Howard tallied five interceptions, 16 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two defensive touchdowns.
