Celtic FC Opinion: Why the Rams should snap up Craig Bryson from Derby?

According to a report from the Scottish Sun, Derby County midfielder Craig Bryson has emerged as a target for Scottish Premiership side Hearts when his contract expires in the summer.

The 32-year-old, who has admitted there have been no talks with the club to extend his spell at Pride Park, is also a target for his old club Kilmarnock.

Craig Bryson has been one of the most consistent performers for Derby County since joining from Kilmarnock in 2011. With no offer for contract extension as of yet, the veteran midfielder will be keen to head back to Scotland and finish his career when his contract does expire at Pride Park.

That said, Celtic should beat the likes of Hearts and Kilmarnock for Bryson’s signature this summer.

Celtic are inching closer towards their eighth successive Scottish Premiership title despite Brendan Rodgers leaving Parkhead last month for Leicester City.

Neil Lennon has been appointed as an interim manager until the end of the season and if does well in the auditioning period, the job could be his on a permanent basis.

Whatever is the case, with or without Lennon, the Hoops will need reinforcements in the summer, considering that Rangers will spend once again after potentially missing out on the title.

To keep up with the high standards and also to compete in the Champions League, a couple of quality additions would do well for Celtic.

Craig Bryson could be an inspired signing for Celtic. The 32-year-old is a box-to-box midfielder but is known for his ability to score goals from midfield.

An energetic, tenacious and lively customer, he can pick a pass and at the same time keep things simple in midfield as per the game’s requirement. His energy remains unmatched and the Scotsman’s work-rate coupled with his ability to get into goal-scoring positions make him an asset for any team he plays.

The former Scotland international has been superb for the Rams ever since moving to the Championship club and will be a solid signing for Celtic if they can snap him up in the summer.

Verdict

A move to Celtic could also tempt Bryson as he’ll be able to play for the best team in Scotland as well as a chance in the Champions League. On a free transfer, the experienced midfielder’s signing is a no-brainer for the Glasgow giants.
