‘Hot Chair Umpire’ has been trending on almost all social networks. Let’s find out why. The Serbian chair umpire Marijana Veljovic was unapologetic in her decision to hand out a code violation to a legend like Federer for swearing during his Australian Open quarterfinals.
The chair umpire Marijana Veljovic was just not having it from Roger Federer, whom she booked for a code violation for swearing during his quarterfinal clash with Tennys Sandgren at the Australian Open on Tuesday.
Many would have naturally thought twice before making such a decision in a match involving such a big legend of the game as Federer, however, Veljovic seemed the least bit concerned and carried out her duty without hesitation.
Despite Federer still complaining, she looked composed and did not shy away from warning the male player with the most number of Grand Slam titles (20) ever in the history of the game.
Tennis fans could simply not take their eyes of good-looking chair umpire Veljovic, who decided to call a violation on one of the most famous sporting personalities in the world.

She is a gold-badge umpire who has already officiated two Grand Slam finals and the Fed Cup Final. Veljovic, however, has also made the headlines due to her pretty looks which has helped her garner even more fans which was very much evident in the game involving the 20-time Grand Slam winner.
Federer, despite being a well-respected player and legend of the game with a huge fan following, it was the chair umpire Veljovic who caught the attention of tennis fans present during the match and worldwide.
She was also doing the rounds online as google searches spiked quickly for the Serbian after officiating Federer’s match. Veljovic has in the past been vocal about her views on how tennis has helped a lot of females like her to succeed as officials. She is also someone who is actively trying to bring in the number of females into such roles in the sport.
Many even took to twitter and other social media handles to praise the young umpire, who now has been highly regarded for being so unfazed and making a bold decision against such a larger than life personality such as Federer.
