Charles Robinson had one great moment during WWE Payback 2020
WWE Payback was another quality PPV and that was surprising given that it was just a week after SummerSlam.
Roman Reigns teaming up with Paul Heyman was one of the major talking points coming into this, but there was a bright moment from a referee too.
That was another positive and we look at the hits and misses from the show.
Misses
1) Corbin’s ribs
Baron Corbin got the loss to Matt Riddle in a pretty decent match. However, the way it ended wasn’t all that great.
Corbin could have been defeated clean but it seems he picked up a rib injury. This should allow Corbin to continue his brawl with Riddle, and he attacked the Bro after the match.
However, Riddle should be in some better storylines now.
2) Celebration time
Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler actually made a good team and they won the WWE Women’s Tag titles.
While beating Sasha Banks and Bayley should have been easy for the two powerhouses, it was a surprise why they celebrated so wildly.
It was a miracle that these two, who hated each other a couple of weeks back, were celebrating wildly.
Jax seemed over the moon with the title while Baszler bigged her game. Now the pair aren’t thinking of the singles titles but are going to team up well? Only time will tell what happens to them.
Hits
1) Robinson falling over
Charles Robinson decided to sell his fall during the main event of the show. The referee is one of the most experienced stars and he had to sell the ring collapse but in his enthusiasm, he actually went backwards over the ropes.
While many have laughed out at the reaction, this was one of the top moments from the main event. Robinson has stated that he didn’t want to over sell this but credit must be given to the ref.
2) Baszler’s unique submission
While Baszler celebrating the win was questionable, there can be no doubts about how she got it.
The Queen of Spades used a brilliant double submission on Sasha Banks and Bayley at the same time.
Baszler does have a lot of MMA experience but this was further proof of how much of a bada** she is.
3) The Paul Heyman Guy
Reigns and Heyman used their wits to get the win in the main event. The Big Dog signed the contract in between the match and took advantage of the broken ring and his rivals being destroyed.
Heyman can be the brains of the outfit and it was great seeing Reigns back at the top. The Big Dog has missed a lot of action over the weeks, but he has been great since making his WWE return.
4) Bask in his glory
Keith Lee got a chance to impress against Randy Orton, and boy did he do that. Lee easily defeated Orton and picked up a clean win.
This is the perfect way to put over a rising star and Lee isn’t fazed by this pressure on him. WWE seems to have big plans for him, and getting the win over Orton was great for his career.
