Chauncey Ray Billups a.k.a Chauncey Billups was the 1997, Round 1, 3rd overall draft pick by the Boston Celtics. Billups played in the position of Point guard and he is also the 2004 NBA Champion.
Billups played college basketball for the University of Colorado from 1995 to 1997. Billups played two seasons of college basketball, averaging 18.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 5.6 rebounds per game.
In the 1997 NBA Draft, Billups was the third overall draft pick by the Boston Celtics. Unfortunately, Billups could not adjust well with the Celtics and after just fifty-one games, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors.
Subsequently, Billups played the 1997-98 season with the Raptors. He played 29 games for the Raptors, averaging 11.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
However, on January 21, 1999, Billups was traded to the Denver Nuggets. Nevertheless, a year later, on February 1, 2000, Billups was traded to the Orlando Magic. Notably, he did not play any games for the Magic.
In the 2000 offseason, Billups was signed by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played for the Timberwolves till the 2001-02 season.
Then, in June 2002, Billups signed a 5-year, $35 million contract with the Detroit Pistons. With the Pistons, he won the 2004 NBA Championship. Moreover, he also won the 2004 NBA Finals MVP Award. He played for the Pistons till 2008.
Then On November 3, 2008, Billups was traded to the Denver Nuggets. This time, he played for the Nuggets till 2011. On February 22, 2011, Billups was traded to the New York Knicks.
In 2011, Billups joined the Los Angeles Clippers. He played for the Clippers till 2013. Then, on July 16, 2013, Billups signed a two-year, $5 million contract to return to the Detroit Pistons.
