Why Chelsea should sign talented teenager Orkun Kokcu
According to Voetbal International (h/t Daily Express), Chelsea are interested in Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu.
The 19-year-old Feyenoord academy graduate has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign this season, appearing in 22 of their 25 league outings. He has also contributed to his side with two goals and four assists to his name, attracting the interest of Premier League sides such as Arsenal and Chelsea.
Despite his young age, the £23million-rated midfielder has grown into one of the key players in manager Dick Advocaat’s side. A regular feature in the Feyenoord squad this term, Kokcu’s talents were, however, out on display last season itself.
The teenage Turkish sensation made his Eredivisie debut last term, scoring three goals and providing four assists from just 11 matches. Kokcu’s on-field displays did not go unnoticed as he was soon included into the first-team this season. Kokcu, meanwhile, made the best out of his opportunity by nailing down a spot in the first-team line-up.
Kokcu will offer Chelsea more options in the attack
With the youngster’s performances clearly improving with time, North London side Chelsea have now started to show an interest in him. Meanwhile, Chelsea have enjoyed a successful spell in the Premier League this season under new boss Frank Lampard.
The Blues are currently fourth in the table – thanks to the side’s younger talents such as Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Reece James and Fikayo Tomori.
Chelsea boss Lampard had relied on his side’s homegrown talents this term after a transfer ban stopped them from signing players last summer. The youngsters, meanwhile, have repaid Lampard’s faith in them by delivering the goods for Chelsea this season.
Abraham with 13 goals is currently his side’s leading goalscorer in the league while 21-year-old Mount is Blues’ highest assist provider with 5 to his name.
Moreover, Chelsea just have Mount as the creative midfielder at the moment and Kokcu’s arrival will offer him more options in the attack ahead of next season. Hence, they should up their interests in the young Turk and try to land him soon.

Verdict
It is obvious that Chelsea have a dearth in the attacking midfield role and bringing Kokcu to the side will only make them stronger. Moreover, having proved himself at Feyenoord this season, it wouldn’t take the talented teenager much time to adjust to his new surroundings at Stamford Bridge if a move happens.
