Why Chelsea must demand Marco Asensio if Real Madrid come calling for Eden Hazard

According to the Daily Mail, Spanish giants Real Madrid are readying a £150million bid for Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard, who has been identified as the man to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

It has been a quite an upsetting summer for the Spanish club so far. Zinedine Zidane has quit Santiago Bernabeu and their all-time top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Juventus. Hence, the Champions League-holders have identified Belgium captain Hazard as their top target to fill the Portuguese superstar’s boots.

After a slow start, newly-appointed manager Julen Lopetegui must start laying out plans to overhaul his side. Los Blancos should challenge bitter rivals and defending champions Barcelona for the La Liga title next season.

As of now, Chelsea have been unable to tie down their star player, who has two years remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have also endured a slow summer but Maurizio Sarri has finally replaced Antonio Conte as the club’s manager. Chelsea must hold onto Hazard but they could be helpless at persuading him to stay back. Hence, if the deal does go through, here’s why the Londoners should demand Marco Asensio as part of the deal.

If Madrid come calling, it makes sense for Chelsea to sanction the deal and get his replacement in one go. And to that end, a move for the talented Asensio seems like a brilliant deal. The player has netted 21 times in 91 appearances for Los Blancos so far.

Last season, Asensio was not an automatic starter at Santiago Bernabeu. Hence, the prospect of playing regularly could tempt him to switch from Real Madrid and join Chelsea. The 22-year-old, whose contract includes a staggering £442million release clause, endured a disappointing World Cup campaign with Spain as the football giants got knocked out by Russia in the Round of 16.

However, his talent and skills are absolutely top-notch. Hence, Chelsea will make a shrewd move if they add Asensio to a potential deal for Hazard this summer.
