Chelsea Opinion: Blues must convince Kante to extend at Chelsea

According to a recent report by The Mirror, French giants Paris Saint-Germain are said to be extremely keen on signing Chelsea’s World Cup winning star N’Golo Kante in the summer. While the Parisians were formerly interested in acquiring Everton star Idrissa Gueye, they have now turned their full attention in the pursuit of Kante.

PSG are yet to reach anywhere near the final of the Champions League, let alone winning the whole thing. It is being suggested that the PSG chiefs believe that Kante is the man to unlock the immense talent on offer at the Parc de Princes.

He would slot perfectly well into the midfield and despite all the talented midfielders they have already, his contributions would certainly be vital to the side’s plays. His defensive work rate seems excellent even by Premier League standards, meaning that in the Ligue 1 – a relatively slower league -his movements would be almost untraceable.

Kante has been a key feature of the Chelsea side over the last few years. Since joining from Leicester City with a Premier League winners’ medal around his neck, he backed up his move by helping Antonio Conte deliver the league title in his first season in charge.

His exemplary performances in the middle of the park were an inspiration to the rest of the side and the number of plaudits he earned were uncountable.

The 28-year-old French international is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world and on his day, is almost impossible to get past. He works tirelessly for 90 minutes and more and makes sure that he gives his 110% every time he steps out onto the pitch.

This season, he’s even added some attacking elements to game and they’ve certainly made him an even better player.

He’s really played a starring role in the Chelsea side this season under Maurizio Sarri. Despite being utilised out of position, the Frenchman has delivered the goods on more than one occasion and has even stepped up with some crucial goals along the way.

He’s scored 4 goals and set up and a further 4 from his 36 league appearances.

The Frenchman’s has notched 38 caps for France over the course of his career and he’s scored a goal while on international duty as well.

He is contracted at Stamford Bridge till the summer of 2023 but a move back to his home country could be tempting, especially considering that the club involved is Paris Saint Germain as well.

While the Parisians have enough cash-power to lure in any player they fancy, it would be ignorant to think that Chelsea would let their prized possession leave without putting up a fight. His contributions have been pivotal to everything positive the Blues have done over the years and keeping him at the Bridge must be among their top priorities.
