The Chennai Open has kicked off and day 2 promises to be an intriguing affair with some interesting matches coming our way. Alison Riske-Amritraj versus the youngster Anastasia Gasanova is certainly a match we are looking forward to.

The 23-year-old has had a difficult season thus far. She has been ousted in the qualifiers in various WTA tournaments. She started the season with a win in Adelaide in the round of 32 but was knocked out in the next round by Misaki Doi.
In the WTA 125K tournament, she won her first match before losing to Claire Liu in the round of 16. The Russian star managed to win the qualifiers in the French Open to progress to the main draw. However, her run ended in the first round itself with a loss to Marie Bouzkova. At the WTA 125K Makarska, Gasanova reached the quarterfinals by winning her first two matches against Lucia Bronzetti and Anastasia Tikhonova.

The 32-year-old has had a couple of impressive outings in 2022. She made it to the finals at Adelaide and Nottingham before losing to Madison Keys and Beatriz Haddad Maia respectively.
At the recently-concluded US Open, the experienced campaigner equaled her best result at the tournament by reaching the fourth round. She defeated the likes of Eleana Yu, Camila Osorio, and Wang Xiyu before losing to eventual semifinalist Caroline Garcia.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The two players have not faced each other before. This will be their first meeting and therefore, the head-to-head is currently at 0-0.
