3rd seed Sebastian Baez and 6th seed Laslo Djere lock horns in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Chile Open on Friday.
The 22-year-old has been in fine form this season. He has reached his third quarterfinal in 2023. Baez produced a dominating performance to win the encounter in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. He had an impressive win percentage of 83 on the first serve. He also wasn’t broken in the entire match.
The Serbian star has made it to the quarterfinals of a tournament for the second time in 2023. He opened his campaign against Portuguese veteran Joao Sousa in the first round. The one-sided contest ended 6-3- 6-2 in favor of Djere who had a win percentage of 82 on the first serve and 87 on the second serve. He also hit 6 aces in the tie.
In the round of 16, he smashed 8 aces and saved 5 break points to defeat Riccardo Bonadio in a closely contested two-set battle that ended 7-5, 7-5.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as the two players have never faced each other as yet.
