Chris Eubank Jr. Professional Career

In 2011, Eubank signed a contract with promoter Mick Hennessy and became a professional. He received guidance from his father as well as his father’s trainer, Ronnie Davies. In the following three years, Eubank had an 18-0 record with 13 knockouts.

Eubank signed a contract to participate on BoxNation on February 19, 2014, and on February 22, he will fight for the first time at London’s York Hall. Alistair Warren (0-4-2) was stopped by Eubank after the latter retired on a stool before round four. The following fight for Eubank was on April 12 at the Copper Box Arena in London against Sandor Micsko of Hungary. In round two, Eubank delivered a powerful uppercut that knocked out Micsko. The fight was stopped by the referee.

On December 30, 2014, Frank Warren confirmed that Eubank would compete against WBA interim middleweight champion and unbeaten Russian boxer Dmitry Chudinov (14-0-2, 9 KOs). On February 28, 2015, Eubank defeated Chudinov via 12th-round TKO, earning him the WBA interim middleweight title.

The possibility of a fight with Irish boxer Gary O’Sullivan on December 12, 2015, at London’s O2 Arena, on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs. Dillian Whyte, has come up again. Since the two had a history of feuds and O’Sullivan had been specifically targeting Eubank on social media, the fight was eagerly anticipated. Eubank prevailed.

The fight between Eubank and Blackwell (19-3-1, 8 KOs) was scheduled to take place at London’s Wembley’s SSE Arena on March 26. This was announced by Hennessy Sports in February 2016. Channel 5 broadcast the battle in real-time. At 2:21 into the tenth round, the referee eventually stopped the fight and gave Eubank the victory and the title through TKO.

On December 13, 2016, Eubank made a Facebook announcement announcing that he would be making his super-middleweight debut on ITV Box Office. On fight night, Eubank won the IBO super-middleweight championship by stopping Quinlan in the tenth round of a rather one-sided contest. At 2 minutes and 7 seconds into round 10, referee Howard John Foster stopped the bout after observing Quinlan backed up against the ropes taking several head punches.

On June 1, 2017, reports stated that Eubank would return to the ring to defend his IBO super middleweight championship against former multiple-weight world champion Arthur Abraham. Eubank was declared the winner by a unanimous vote of 120-108, 120-108, and 118-110. Abraham was largely in defense mode as Eubank outlined and outpointed him, so he had little to contribute.

The James DeGale vs. Chris Eubank Jr. grudge match, which would take place on February 23 at London’s O2 Arena and be shown exclusively on ITV Box Office, was officially announced on January 3, 2019, at a press conference. James DeGale was decisively defeated by Chris Eubank Jr. on February 23. Scores for Eubank Jr. were 114–112, 115–112, and 117–109. DeGale was knocked out in rounds two and ten.

For the vacant WBA interim middleweight title on December 7, 2019, Eubank Jr., ranked first by the WBA, took against Matt Korobov, a past title contender, who was ranked third by the WBA. Korobov made a good impression right away. However, Korobov hurt his left shoulder 20 seconds into the second round. After Korobov was unable to continue, the referee declared Eubank Jr. the winner through a second-round TKO.

Following a break of nearly 17 months, Eubank Jr. made his comeback on May 1, 2021, to take against Marcus Morrison at the AO Arena in Manchester, England, with Roy Jones Jr. serving as his new trainer. With scores of 98-92 in favor of Eubank Jr. from all three judges, the winner was decidedly Eubank Jr.

At the Newcastle Arena on October 16, 2021, Eubank Jr. squared up against Wanik Awdijan. The name of Sebastian, the former’s brother who had passed away in July 2021, was embroidered on his shorts and ring-walk robe. By corner retirement in the fifth round, Eubank Jr. triumphed.

On February 5, 2022, at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, Eubank Jr. squared off against his Welsh opponent, former world championship contender Liam Williams, in the city’s largest indoor arena boxing event in more than 20 years. Williams’ home-field advantage ultimately proved to be ineffective as Eubank Jr. put on a spectacular performance to win by a huge margin of unanimous decision, with judges’ scores of 116-109, 116-108, and 117-109.

Eubank Jr. declared that he would take on Conor Benn in 2022 at a catchweight of 157 pounds. Given that the fathers of both boxers, Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn, maintained a bitter rivalry throughout the early to mid-1990s, this bout has been promoted as a sort of grudge match. The bout was slated to take place at London’s O2 Arena on October 8, 2022. After Benn tested positive for clomifene, the British Boxing Board of Control issued a statement on October 5 saying that the match could not go on.

On January 21, 2023, Eubank Jr. faced up against Liam Smith, a former WBO light-middleweight champion, in Manchester, England’s AO Arena. By TKO, Eubank was defeated in the fourth round.
