Andy Murray

After a disappointing campaign at the Canadian Open where he lost in the first round to Taylor Fritz, Andy Murray will be hopeful of producing a much better performance at the Cincinnati Masters. The 35-year-old defeated Stan Wawrinka in the first round in a clash of the veterans. The match between two three-time Grand Slam champions was evenly-contested but the Brit prevailed in the critical stages to win the match 7-6 (7-3), 5-7, 7-5.

Last year at Cincinnati, Murray won his first match against Richard Gasquet but was ousted in the second round by Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets. Murray has won in Cincinnati on two previous occasions in 2008 and 2011. This is his 17th appearance at the tournament.

Cameron Norrie

Cameron Norrie has been in good form this season. He has won two titles thus far. The first one came at the Delray Beach Open while the second came at the Lyon Open. He also made it to the finals of the Mexican Open and the Los Cabos Open but couldn’t go the distance. The 26-year-old also registered his best result at a Grand Slam when he made it to the semifinals of Wimbledon before losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

Cameron Norrie

Cameron Norrie has already bettered his last year’s performance at Cincinnati. He bowed out in the first round itself following a defeat against John Isner. In his first match, Norrie had to fight hard to get the better of Holger Rune 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-4.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

Andy Murray leads the head-to-head 1-0 as he defeated his compatriot at the 2019 China Open.

Things have changed a lot in the last three years. Norrie has been in better form of late and he could get one over Murray in a match that will potentially be decided in the third set.
