Expect fireworks aplenty when two great players – Carlos Alcaraz and Cameron Norrie collide at the Cincinnati Masters to earn a spot in the semifinals.
Carlos Alcaraz
The 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz has had a stellar season winning four titles already. He could have bagged two more titles but he couldn’t clear the final hurdles at the German Open and the Croatia Open. At the German Open final, Alcaraz lost to Lorenzo Musetti in a three-set affair. The Croatia Open final saw the Spaniard go head-to-head against Jannik Sinner and the result of the match was the same as when they met the last time in the round of 16 at Wimbledon.
Alcaraz lost in the first round to Tommy Paul in Montreal. At Cincinnati, he has been clinical and defeated Mackenzie McDonald and Marin Cilic in straight sets.
Cameron Norrie
The British No. 1 Cameron Norrie has won the Delray Beach Open and the Lyon Open this year. At Wimbledon, he reached the semifinals and that was his first semi-final appearance at a Grand Slam. Norrie could have added one more title to his kitty in 2022 at the Los Cabos Open. However, he suffered a loss in straight sets against Daniil Medvedev in the final.
At Montreal, Norrie won his first two matches in straight sets before being outclassed by home favorite Felix Auger-Aliassime. So far in the Cincinnati Masters, Norrie has picked up hard-fought wins against Holger Rune and Andy Murray before outplaying Ben Shelton in the round of 16.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head currently sits at 3-0 in favor of Carlos Alcaraz.
Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in 3 sets.
