An exciting contest awaits us as Felix Auger-Aliassime takes on Jannik Sinner in the round of 16 of the Cincinnati Masters.
The Canadian tennis pro has won 35 out of the 54 matches he has played in 2022 thus far. Auger-Aliassime began the year with a bang as he was part of the winning team at the ATP Cup, where he defeated the likes of Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, and Roberto Bautista Agut. Later in the year, he won the Rotterdam Open to bag his first ATP singles title.
The World No. 9 played some great tennis at the recently-concluded Canadian Open and reached the quarterfinal before being ousted by Casper Ruud. The 22-year-old started his Cincinnati Open campaign with a comfortable win against Alex de Minaur in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
The talented Italian has been in sparkling form this season. He has lost just 10 out of the 48 matches he has played so far. Sinner displayed some fantastic tennis at Wimbledon where he defeated the likes of Stan Wawrinka, John Isner, and Carlos Alcaraz. He won the first two sets of his quarter-final clash against Novak Djokovic before the veteran outclassed him in the next three in what was arguably the best match of the tournament.
The sinner won a title in Croatia by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final. The 21-year-old could not progress beyond the round of 16 at the Canadian Open as he lost to eventual champion Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets. At the Cincinnati Open, Sinner defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis in a closely-fought encounter. Sinner, ranked No. 12, led 7-5, 3-1 in the round of 32 match against Miomir Kecmanovic when the Serbian tennis pro had to pull out owing to an injury.
Felix Auger-Aliassime leads the head-to-head 1-0. However, we are backing Sinner to level things up in a hard-fought three-set affair.
Prediction: Jannik Sinner.
