The American hasn’t won a title as yet in 2022 but she did make it to the final at the Madrid Open. She has shown glimpses of brilliance throughout the season.

At the Canadian Open, she had a fine campaign and managed to reach the semi-final stage before she was ousted by eventual champion Simona Halep. At the Cincinnati Masters, she lost the first set of her first match against Marta Kostyuk. However, in the following two sets, Pegula brought her A-game to the fore and outplayed the Ukrainian to win the match 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-2. In the round of 16, Pegula defeated the 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.
