We are nearing the business end of the Cincinnati Masters and John Isner and Stefanos Tsitsipas collide in the quarter-final stage of the competition.

John Isner

August 31, 2018 – John Isner in action against Dusan Lajovic during the 2018 US Open.

The 37-year-old had a tough start to 2022 as he lost in Adelaide in the first round and suffered a similar fate at the Australian Open. Isner gave a solid account of himself in the Dallas Open where he reached the semifinal before being ousted by Reilly Opelka.

The American tennis pro reached the final at ATP Houston before Opelka once again stopped him in his tracks. Isner could not progress beyond the third rounds in both the French Open and Wimbledon. He reached the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships before another compatriot Maxime Cressy showed him the door.

At the Atlanta Open, Isner lost to Jenson Brooksby in the quarterfinal. So far in Ohio, Isner has fought hard to defeat Hubert Hurkacz 7-6 (7-5), 6-7(5-7), 6-2 in the round of 32, and Sebastian Korda 7-6 (7-3),1-6, 7-6 (7-4).

Stefanos Tsitsipas

The Greek tennis pro has won two titles this year in Mallorca and Monte-Carlo. He has been in good form thus far. The World No. 7 couldn’t progress beyond the first round in Montreal as he lost in straight sets to Jack Draper 5-7, 6-7 (4-7).
