Taylor Fritz

11th seed Taylor Fritz outclassed Sebastian Baez in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters in straight sets – 6-1, 6-1. The American is enjoying his best season since turning pro in 2015.

He won his first-ever Masters 1000 title when he defeated Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the final of the Indian Wells. After a brief hiccup at the beginning of the grass season, Fritz came back to his best and won the Eastbourne International. He also played some great tennis at Wimbledon before losing to Rafael Nadal in a riveting quarter-final clash. Since then, Fritz could not make it beyond the round of 16 stages at the Citi Open and the Canadian Open.

The Australian has also been in fine form this season. He has won 31 out of the 39 matches he has played thus far. Nick Kyrgios defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the round of 64 of the Cincinnati Open on Tuesday to win his 11th consecutive first-round match of the season.

Nick Kyrgios reached the final of the Wimbledon Championships before suffering defeat against Novak Djokovic. He played some brilliant tennis at the Citi Open and won the event after defeating Yoshihito Nishioka in the final.

At the Canadian Open, the 27-year-old continued his rich vein of form and defeated world No. 1, Daniil Medvedev, in the round of 32. Kyrgios was backed by the pundits to clinch the title but his run ended in the quarterfinal after the eventual runner-up Hubert Hurkacz defeated him in a closely-contested match.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

Nick Kyrgios and Taylor Fritz have faced each other in a few doubles matches but their head-to-head in singles competition stands at 0-0.

It’s very difficult to predict the winner when two players are in the form of their lives. However, Kyrgios might just edge out Fritz in a tight three-set affair.

Prediction: Nick Kyrgios
