Comparing Mitrovic and Bowen: Which Championship striker has fared better?

When it comes to football in England, the physicality and the demands of the Premier League are always spoken highly of.

However, the second-tier competition is no different. Arguably a tad tougher and more gruelling than the famed top-flight, the Championship does not go easy on anyone. And to still make a name for oneself while topping the charts is no mean feat.

This season, there are a few outright promotion favourites but when it comes to scoring goals, two men are leading by example. Aleksandar Mitrovic of Fulham and Jarrod Bowen of Hull City have been in phenomenal form, bagging 15 and 12 goals respectively so far.

With that in mind, let’s compare the duo’s stats and conclude as to who has outperformed the other so far.

Aleksandar Mitrovic

Having provided 15 goals and 1 assist in 1620 minutes for Fulham in the Championship this season, Mitrovic has converted 53% of his 26 shots on target. According to WhoScored, the Serbian has registered an average of 3.8 shots per game, along with a passing accuracy of 77.9%.

In addition to winning an average of 3.8 aerial duels per game, Mitrovic has also notched up an overall rating of 7.39.

Jarrod Bowen

With 12 goals and 4 assists to his name, Bowen has played 1710 minutes in the Championship this term. Out of his 29 shots on target, the 22-year-old has managed to convert 56% of those.

As per WhoScored, he has averaged 3.6 shots per game while recording a passing accuracy of 69.9%. However, he has won just an average of 0.8 aerial duels per game so far. As of now, Bowen’s overall rating stands at 7.43.

Verdict

As one can see, Bowen has a higher overall rating but there are certain areas wherein Mitrovic has outperformed him. Straight off the bat, he has scored more goals, with a slightly higher average shots per game. And when it comes to aerial duels, there is absolutely no comparison.

That said, Bowen has supplied more assists and has a better conversion rate as well. And hence, even though Mitrovic has scored more, the Hull City man’s numbers are well-balanced.
