Confirmed Man United XI to face Valencia: Who starts for the Red Devils?

Manchester United take on Valencia for their next Champions League group stage game. Jose Mourinho’s men have been anything but lucky and have endured a stuttering start to the ongoing season. They have made a lukewarm start to the Premier League and they did get off their European adventures to a good start.

The Red Devils beat Young Boys earlier and now, they must pull off something similar against Valencia. As things stand, there is a lot of pressure and Mourinho and his men and they must do well against the tough La Liga outfit.

The club’s official Twitter account put out the line-up for today and here is how United will be taking the field.

It is comforting to know that David De Gea will be between the sticks as usual. Antonio Valencia will take up his spot at right-back while Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly will be deployed in the heart of the defence. Smalling has been sturdier than Bailly so far, meaning he must shoulder a bulk of the responsibility.

The midfield does look promising with Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini. All three of them must be at their best to combat Valencia.

As far as the attack is concerned, it is note-worthy that Marcus Rashford has received a start on the right-wing. Romelu Lukaku will lead the line as always with Alexis Sanchez taking up the left-wing.

All in all, the squad does look promising but it will all come down to how they gel as a unit on the field. Can they upset the unpredictable La Liga outfit?
