Confirmed line-ups for Manchester City vs Lyon: Guardiola makes a surprise decision
Manchester City are a notch above their Premier League counterparts and Pep Guardiola’s team is surely capable of going far in the Champions League. They are now set to take on Lyon in the opening game of their 2018/19 Champions League tournament.
Having been eliminated by Liverpool in the quarterfinal stage last season, the Cityzens should be pumped up to prove a point this season. There’s no shortage of quality and on paper, this team of talented players is capable of beating any team in the world.
The club’s official Twitter handle has shared the confirmed line-up for tonight and it certainly looks quite strong.
How we line-up in the #UCL tonight! 🙌

The team remains the same, more or less. Ederson retains his spot between the sticks while the likes of Kyle Walker, John Stones and Fabian Delph will be seen in their respective positions. Aymeric Laporte has been handed a start while Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan and David Silva will continue in the midfield.
Also, it is interesting to note that Gabriel Jesus has been deployed ahead of Sergio Aguero. Although the powerful striker has been in great form for the Sky Blues, it does make sense to rest him.
All that said and done, it will be an exciting clash for sure. Lyon have been quite a surprise package in recent times and they should relish their chances of causing a nasty upset for Guardiola’s men. After crashing out against Liverpool last time out, can the Cityzens beat the odds this season?
