Details of Conor McGregor were out in the open as his salary, endorsement amounts and more were available in the 2020 Forbes highest-paid athletes list
Conor McGregor never misses a chance to take a shot at his rivals. The UFC great might have been humbled in his last fight against Dustin Poirier, however, that seems to have lit a fire under the Irishman.
McGregor confirmed he was done being a nice guy after the loss and is looking for a rematch against Poirier.
That could be for the UFC title and McGregor has been training hard. However, he still took some time out to taunt Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather Jr is one of the richest athletes in the world. However, he missed out on the 2020 Forbes highest-paid athletes list which calculated salaries and endorsement earnings from June 2019 to June 2020.
Mayweather had topped many such lists in the past but he missed out on this one and McGregor was quick to taunt the boxer.
“Happy birthday Floyd!
“We miss you on the Forbes”.
McGregor, for his part, just fought once during that period. That was a win over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.
However, the Irishman has been doing a lot of brand related work and his own business have been growing too.
While Mayweather missed out on the list, McGregor came in at #16 with $48million in earnings for that period of time.
He was ahead of some big names such as NBA stars James Harder and Giannis Antetokounmpo. McGregor was also ahead of boxing greats Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.
McGregor made $16m from his endorsement deals while he racked up $32m as salary and winnings in 2020. There was no other UFC/MMA star in the list of the top 60 highest-paid athletes.
The man topping the list was tennis legend Roger Federer. The Swiss ace made $106.3m in the time period with $100m coming from endorsements alone.
Juventus and Portugal footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was second with $105m while Lionel Messi came third with $104million.
Neymar came in fourth with $95.5m while LeBron James was the highest-ranked NBA star on the list with $88.2m.
The others rounding off the top 10 were Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Tiger Woods, Kirk Cousins and Carson Wentz.
