Owen Roddy spoke at length with Ariel Helwani regarding Conor McGregor and his return to the Octagon.
The Irishman easily defeated Donald Cerrone in his return fight and did so in 40 seconds. Some were surprised at the outcome as the Cowboy didn’t even land a meaningful blow to McGregor.
The Notorious One also used his shoulder strikes well, something that Roddy touched upon, and claimed that was all down to the Irishman.
Helwani asked if McGregor took a day off and returned to training on Monday. The MMA journalist enquired if the Irishman was looking forward to three or four fights this year.
McGregor was still in the US while Roddy was back home, and the coach claimed that the Irishman was ready to train on Sunday too:
“Yeah, yeah, he is still training. He wanted to train on the Sunday morning, Ariel.”
Roddy joked that McGregor had a few drinks at night after the win and wanted to train further, and confirmed that the Notorious One was back on Monday:
“I believe he did strength and conditioning on the Monday, that was the plan and then he was at the Grammy’s too.
“He’s straight back at it.”
Helwani was left impressed by McGregor’s schedule and the big question is who will he fight next?
The coach added a couple of names would be good fights for McGregor, including Jorge Masvidal, but Roddy was confident of the Irishman doing well against any fighter.
