Slovenia’s Tamara Zidansek will take on Peyton Stearns of the USA in the quarter-finals at the Copa Colsanitas
Zidansek is not a regular on the WTA and she has certainly exceeded expectations by reaching the quarter-finals stage of the tournament. She began her campaign with a comprehensive 6-0,6-1 victory against Reka Jani and followed it up with an impressive straight-sets win over Mirjam Bjorklund. The world No.114 will now face a tough challenge against Peyton Stearns in the last eight.
This is the first time since February that Zidansek has made it to the main draw of a WTA event. She is primarily active on the ITF Challenger circuit and she will certainly relish the opportunity to take on the big girls of women’s tennis in Colombia.
Peyton Stearns’ form coming into the match
Peyton Stearns lacks the experience of regularly playing in big tournaments. She is coming into this tournament after a disappointing outing at the Miami Open, where she failed to make it to the main draw. However, Stearns has been impressive so far in Colombia and is coming into this match following two convincing victories against Rosa Vicens Mas and Elina Avanesyan. Stearns will be looking to carry forward this positive momentum and cause an upset over Zidansek.

Head to head and Predictions
Zidansek and Stearns have never played each other once before on the WTA tour. This is the first professional head to head clash between the two players. Zidansek is the slight favourite going into this match both in terms of form and rankings. It will be an uphill task for Stearns in this encounter but she is expected to pose a tough challenge. However, we expect the Zidansek to see off Stearns’ challenge and win in three sets.
