Top seed Mayar Sherif takes on world No. 139 Brenda Fruhvirtova in the round of 16 of the Copa LP Chile on Thursday.

The Egyptian tennis pro came into the tournament on the back of a successful campaign at the Emilia-Romagna Open where she defeated Maria Sakkari in the final. Sherif has started the Copa LP Chile from where she left her previous tournament.
In the round of 32, Sherif faced local youngster Fernanda Astete. The Egyptian athlete was too hot to handle for Astete and the 26-year-old bageled her opponent in consecutive sets to progress to the round of 16. Sherif is the favorite to win the competition but she would be wary of not getting ahead of herself and taking one match at a time.
Brenda Fruhvirtova
She might be just 15 years old but has produced some fine results on the ITF circuit this season. Fruhvirtova has incredibly won 8 ITF titles and has an 8-0 record in finals this year. 7 out of her 8 finals have not rolled into the third set.
Fruhvirtova began her Copa LP Chile campaign against Eva Vedder. The teenager made light work of the Dutchwoman, winning the match in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. The Czech youngster will have to bring her A-game to the fore if she wants to be competitive against an experienced Mayar Sherif.
