The experienced Argentine came into the tournament on the back of a triumphant campaign in a Challenger event in Concepcion last month.
Coria started off with a loss in the first set of his first-round clash against Thiago Monteiro. However, the former made a strong comeback when the second set got underway. Coria eventually won the match 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-2. He hit 12 aces in the encounter. In the round of 16, Coria faced Marco Cecchinato. The 30-year-old was leading 6-3, 3-1 when the Italian star pulled out of the match owing to injury. Coria converted 3 out of 4 break points in the encounter.
Francisco Cerundolo
The 24-year-old has managed to reach the quarterfinals of a competition for the first time in 2023. He received a bye into the round of 16.
Cerundolo faced fellow Argentine Federico Delbonis in the round of 16. The talented Cerundolo won the first set but Delbonis came back strongly to win the second set. The third set was a tight affair but Cerundolo eventually bagged it. The match ended 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 in favor of Cerundolo who smashed 9 aces. He also committed 5 double faults and converted only 6 out of 18 break points during the encounter.
