Why Crystal Palace must go all out to sign Moanes Dabour
According to the Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg striker Moanes Dabour. Roy Hodgson must strengthen his attack before the Premier League opener and has already been linked with Liverpool’s Danny Ings this summer.
However, the Eagles would have to see off interest from La Liga duo Sevilla and Valencia to land the former Maccabi Tel Aviv striker (h/t Estadio Deportivo).
As far as Crystal Palace are concerned new additions Cheikhou Kouyate and Max Meyer will add energy in the central midfield area. If the Selhurst Park side can hold onto Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha, they could play out wide. Nevertheless, Palace need a proven poacher to convert the chances created. And to that end, Israeli international Moanes Dabour could be the solution to Christian Benteke’s struggles.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a remarkable 2017/18 season as he scored 29 goals in all competitions, winning the Golden Boot as Red Bull Salzburg clinched the Austrian Bundesliga. He also played a vital role as the club reached the semi-finals of the Europa League. To add the icing on the cake, Dabour has already scored three goals in two T-Mobile Bundesliga appearances for Salzburg this season.
Dabour can play as a centre-forward, a secondary striker, a central attacking midfielder and as a left-winger. He has a goal from seven caps for Israel.
To avoid a relegation battle like last season, Roy Hodgson’s side needs proven goal-scorers. Dabour may not have made his name in any of Europe’s major leagues so far but the 26-year-old will offer Palace a new dimension in the final third.
Dabour has registered a remarkable 118 goals and 52 assists from 266 appearances. This includes 27 goals and six assists in 49 Austrian Bundesliga appearances. The Premier League will be a new and totally different environment for Dabour but his immense goalscoring abilities should excite Palace fans.

Dabour’s arrival would ease the goalscoring pressure off Benteke, who could do with a quality striker alongside him. Palace pushed finished 11th last season after a brief relegation scare but the Eagles need firepower to push for European football this campaign.
With the transfer deadline is fast approaching, Palace need to move fast to secure Dabour’s services. The addition of the Israeli international would represent another major piece of business Roy Hodgson.
