Nix started playing basketball at his middle school in Alaska. In Alaska, there were not much of academies or coaches for training basketball. So, his mother decided to shift to Las Vegas, to make him train under experienced persons. He joined Trinity International High School and represented the basketball team. In his junior season, he averaged 19.9 points with 6.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. At the end of his junior season, he was awarded the NCSAA Player of the Year. Nix set a benchmark by scoring a triple-double of 45 points with 11 assists and 10 steals against the PHH Pep. An opportunity to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game knocked on the doors of Nix, but unfortunately due to COVID-19, the tournament was cancelled.
Nix wished to continue his basketball career with the University of California team over the offers from the other top universities. The point guard wished to join the NBA G League Ignite and quit his college career.
Nix signed a $300,000 contract with The NBA G League Ignite.
