Dakota Kai Career
Cheree Georgina Crowley is a professional wrestler from New Zealand. She made her professional wrestling debut way back in 2007, for Auckland-based Impact Pro Wrestling. She performed under the ring name of Eevee, which was a reference to her favorite Pokémon.
In 2011, she moved to the Australia-based Pro Wrestling Alliance. In 2014, Kai received a three-month contract to wrestle in Japan. She then made her move to the American independent promotions and performed for Shimmer Women Athletes and Shine Wrestling.
On 19 April 2013, Evie made her debut for Shine Wrestling at Shine 9, in a losing effort against Mercedes Martinez.
On 6 December 2015, Evie made her debut for the Japanese World Wonder Ring Stardom promotion. In her first match, she won the vacant Artist of Stardom Championship alongside Hiroyo Matsumoto and Kellie Skater.
Towards the end of 2016, Kai signed a contract with WWE and a few months later she was announced as a participant in the upcoming Mae Young Classic under the ring name Dakota Kai.
The name was chosen by her, as it was tomboyish and even reflected her Samoan heritage. She debuted on NXT in 2017. She went on to team with Raquel Gonzalez for several months and became an NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion but their association came to an end after Kai turned on Gonzalez.
Kai was released by WWE on April 29, 2022. She had reportedly expressed to the company that she was not planning on renewing her contract before her release.
However, on July 30, 2022, Kai re-signed with WWE and returned at SummerSlam alongside Bayley and Iyo Sky with the three being allies. She joined the RAW brand as the heel and made her debut for the brand the following night, attacking Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka alongside Bayley and Sky.
