Denis Shapovalov

The Canadian tennis pro started the season by playing in the Adelaide International 1. He picked up wins against Rinky Hijikata and Roman Safiullin before losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals.

In the Australian Open, Shapovalov entered as the 20th seed. He defeated Dusan Lajovic in the first round and Taro Daniel in the second round. The 23-year-old crashed out in the third round after losing to Hubert Hurkacz in the five-set thriller. Shapovalov smashed 45 aces in the three matches he played in the Australian Open. In the Dallas Open, Shapovalov received a bye into the round of 16.

Wu Yibing

The Chinese No. 2 opened the season by playing in the Adelaide International 1. He defeated Ugo Humbert in the first round of qualifying before losing to Alexei Popyrin in the following qualifying match.

Wu Yibing

Yibing lost to Corentin Moutet in the first round of the Australian Open in a five-set thriller. At a Challenger event in Cleveland, Yibing made it to the finals. He carried the good form into the Dallas Open and defeated Michael Mmoh in the first round in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Head-to-Head and Prediction
