5th seed John Isner faces the highest-ranked Taiwanese player on the ATP Tour – Chun-Hsin Tseng in the round of 32 of the 2023 Dallas Open on Tuesday.
The American veteran made it to the semifinals last year and will hope to repeat the heroics at this year’s event as well. Isner took part in the ASB Classic as the sixth-seeded player. He lost to Gregoire Barrere in the round of 32 after winning the first set.
In the first round of the Australian Open, Isner faced fellow veteran Adrian Mannarino. Once again, Isner won the first set but lost from that position. In the two matches that Isner has played this season, he has managed to hit a whopping 49 aces. However, he has not been as good at returning, winning just 47 points while receiving out of the 207 points he has won.
The 21-year-old is also in search of his first win of the season. He has gone winless in three competitions so far. In the Maharashtra Open, Tseng lost to eventual finalist Benjamin Bonzi in the first round. He went down to Facundo Bagnis in the first round of qualifying at the ASB Classic.
In the Australian Open, Tseng faced Alexei Popyrin in the first round. The Taiwanese youngster won the first two out of the three sets. However, Popyrin managed to come back strongly and won what was a riveting clash.
This will be the first meeting between John Isner and Chun-Hsin Tseng. Therefore, the head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0.
Prediction: John Isner to win in straight sets.
