Hill’s father passed away unfortunately in an air crash on 29 November 1975. The incident fueled more motivation in Hill to achieve the dream of his father. Graham Hill won the title in 1962 and 1968.
His father is the only driver ever to win the Triple Crown of Motorsport – winning the Indianapolis 500, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship. When he won the title at Williams, his salary was quoted at £6m, but took a paycut when he signed for the Arrows. He endured a disappointing season in 1997 at Arrows, then moved to Jordan, where he secured the team’s maiden Formula One victory in the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix. He eventually retired in 1999.
