Tottenham v Manchester City prediction: Tottenham line-up

Tottenham welcome Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday in the first leg of Champions League quarter-finals after Mauricio Pochettino’s side got off to a winning start in their new home.

The north Londoners beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in their first ever game in the new stadium, with Heung-min Son and Christian Eriksen on the score-sheet. But this week will be their toughest test when they face the Premier League champions in Europe as Pochettino hopes to take an advantage ahead of next week’s second leg.

As far as Manchester City are concerned, Guardiola’s side are in rollicking form at the moment and come into Tuesday’s game after booking a place in the FA Cup final.

Team News

Eric Dier and Erik Lamela have been ruled out for this game, while Serge Aurier remains a doubt due to hamstring strain.

Probable Tottenham XI

Formation: 3-4-1-2

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Hugo Lloris (GK)

Lloris has made a lot of mistakes this season, failing to command his box well. Yet, he remains Spurs’ first-choice keeper in the team should start tomorrow.

Kieran Trippier (RWB)

With Aurier doubtful for the game, Trippier would be starting at right wing-back.

Toby Alderweireld (RCB)

One of the best defenders in the Premier League, Alderweireld will be raring to help Spurs keep the clean sheet against City.

Davinson Sanchez (CB)

Sanchez has blown hot and cold this season but he’ll be trusted in a three-man backline on Tuesday.

Jan Vertonghen (LCB)

A pillar at the back, Vertonghen is one of the first names on the team sheet. His experience and leadership skills will come handy in such big Champions League nights.

Danny Rose (LWB)

For his tenacity, pace and aggression, Rose could get the nod ahead of Davies at left wing-back against City.

Harry Winks (CM)

Winks’ return from injury against Crystal Palace came as a major boost for Pochettino. The Englishman is fully fit now and could be handed a start straightaway.

Moussa Sissoko (CM)

Arguably the most improved player under Pochettino this season, Sissoko’s bite and energy in midfield will be important against a fantastic side like City.

Christian Eriksen (CAM)

Eriksen is the beating heart of the Tottenham side, responsible for initiating attacks from midfield. Due to his ability to pick a pass and unlock defences, the Dane is an indispensable figure for Pochettino.

Harry Kane (RS)

Spurs’ best forward, Kane will be raring to beat City in the first leg. He is a certain starter at home for tomorrow’s game.
