Season 2 of Leaphorn promises even more riveting drama, following on where season 1 left off with Leaphorn laying to rest his son’s murder. According to its new trailer, season two appears to pick up where season one ended.

On May 13, AMC unveiled a teaser trailer for Dark Winds which teases of an even more intense and dramatic season ahead. The short clip depicts Leaphorn attempting to fight back after attacks against him and his aides and vowing to uncover the truth. Season two premieres Sunday July 30 on AMC+/AMCNeverland; episodes air weekly until then. Zahn McClarnon is back as Joe Leaphorn.

Zahn McClarnon has quickly established himself at the top of Hollywood’s Native American acting scene with his performance as Joe Leaphorn on AMC’s 1970s-set dark mystery series based on Tony Hillerman books, earning critical acclaim and rating success alike.

Dark Winds’ first season follows Tribal Police Lieutenant Joe as he investigates a series of seemingly unrelated crimes committed within his Navajo Nation community. Joe soon realizes that as he gets closer to uncovering the truth, his beliefs and relationships with colleagues become tested.

Black Hole Sun can now be watched online via AMC+ and will air each Sunday night. It marks Joe and Jim’s return to their search for justice in an environment filled with crime but lacking true redress, as well as unveiling hidden truths from years past. Joe and Jim are brought in this season to investigate an apparent series of unconnected crimes committed against Kayenta residents who depend on them, apparently by someone known as Colton Wolf (Bernadette Manuelito, Sergeant Emma Leaphorn, Valencia County Sheriff Gordo Sena and new character A Martinez from Days of Our Lives). With assistance from Bernadette Manuelito and Sgt Emma Leaphorn as well as Valencia County Sheriff Gordo Sena as well as newcomer A Martinez (Longmire Days of Our Lives), they endeavor to discover Colton Wolf’s truth.
