In his sophomore season, West was the leader in Xavier in scoring (17.8 ppg), rebounding (10.9 rpg) and blocks (2.1 bpg). He recorded five 20-point, 20-rebound games and earned his first A-10 Player of the Year award.
He was also named the AP National Player of the Year and National Player of the Year by the United States Basketball Writers Association, in his final year.
He joined the Hornets and stayed with them till the 2010 season. With injuries marring his budding career, he finally opted out of his contract to become a free agent.
In 2011, West signed a two-year, $20 million contract with the Indiana Pacers. Two years later, West recorded his first career triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. In 2016, he again opted out of his Pacers contract, walking away from $12.6 million contract joining with the San Antonio Spurs.
He eventually moved to the Golden State Warriors during his final years, where he was a key player. With players like Klay Thompson and Steph Curry, he was part of a dominant team that won back-to-back NBA titles in 2017 and 2018.
