Manchester City vs Crystal Palace prediction: Manchester City line-up

Manchester City travel to Selhurst Park to play Crystal Palace on Sunday as Pep Guardiola looks to reclaim the top spot of the Premier League table.

The Cityzens were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday. Guardiola will hope for an improved performance and a positive result on Sunday in south London.

Crystal Palace, who stunned City at the Etihad 3-2 earlier in the season, will look to complete the double over the Mancunian club.

Team News

Bernardo Silva missed the Champions League first-leg against Tottenham with an injury and is likely to be sidelined at Palace as well. Oleksandr Zinchenko is also currently out with a thigh problem.

Probable Manchester City XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Pep Guardiola

Ederson (GK)

Ederson is City’s undisputed first-choice in goal and is expected to start against Palace.

Kyle Walker (RB)

One of the best right-backs in the Premier League, Walker will have to be defensively strong against Palace’s nippy attackers.

John Stones (CB)

Stones was an unused substitute in the defeat at Tottenham in the Champions League but will be given the nod ahead of Otamendi on Sunday.

Aymeric Laporte (CB)

Partnering Stones in central defence will be Laporte, who has proven to be a gem of signing for City.

Fabian Delph (LB)

With Zinchenko injured and Mendy susceptible to injury, Delph is likely to be handed another start at left-back.

Fernandinho (CDM)

One of City’s most crucial cogs, Fernandinho will aim to take control of the game from the first blow of the whistle at the weekend.

David Silva (LCM)

Silva will look to exploit the little gaps Palace defenders usually leave and create chances for the attackers in the final third. He is a certain starter for Guardiola’s side on Sunday.

Kevin de Bruyne (RCM)

De Bruyne came as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Tottenham in the Champions League but should be handed a start on the right-hand side of midfield trio.

Leroy Sane (LW)

With his blistering pace, trickery and intelligent movement, Sane could cause all kinds of problems for the Palace defenders.

Raheem Sterling (RW)

Arguably City’s best player this season, Sterling will look to pierce the Palace rearguard with his pace and off the ball movement. He is an undoubted starter for the Cityzens.
