Predicted Tottenham XI to face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League
Tottenham Hotspur had some nervy moments in the Premier League this week but the Lilywhites claimed all three points with a 3-2 victory over Wolves.
Spurs lost their first two fixtures against Inter Milan and Barcelona and were held to a 2-2 draw by PSV Eindhoven on matchday three.
As things stand, Mauricio Pochettino’s men do not have a realistic chance of making it to the knockout stages of the Champions League but they will be looking to claim all three points when they play host to the Dutch champions for the return leg on Tuesday.
Team News
Mauricio Pochettino has a lot of injuries to contend with for the Champions League clash. Mousa Dembele suffered an ankle injury in the last game and is ruled out for Wednesday.
Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose and Vincent Janssen are all set to miss the Champions League fixture.
Hugo Lloris was sent off on matchday three and is suspended for Wednesday’s matchday four clash.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Manager: Mauricio Pochettino
Predicted XI
1. Michel Vorm (GK)
Hugo Lloris is suspended so the Dutch veteran might get a start between the sticks.
2. Kieran Trippier (RB)
He has contributed equally to both defence and attack and is likely to retain his position in the eleven.
3. Toby Alderweireld (CB)
The Belgian was squared up by the Wolves attackers on Saturday and it was his bizarre error that cost Spurs in the previous game of the Champions League. However, Pochettino doesn’t have too many choices with Vertonghen out injured.
4. Davinson Sanchez (CB)
Juan Foyth gave away two penalties in the last game and the Colombian should start ahead of the youngster.
5. Ben Davies (RB)
He hasn’t been particularly impressive but Spurs do not have anyone to replace the injured Danny Rose.
6. Harry Winks (CDM)
The youngster has impressed with his calmness and composure in the midfield and Pochettino should persist with him.
7. Mousa Sissoko (CDM)
He might be forced to play in an unfamiliar position due to the injury to Dier and Dembele.
8. Erik Lamela (RW)
The Argentine has been in blistering form and scored in the Premier League this weekend. He will have to come up with another good display if Spurs are to get anything out of this game.
9. Lucas Moura (LW)
The Brazilian has always impressed with his pace and flair in the final third.
10. Christian Eriksen (CAM)
He is the key playmaker of the team and is likely to be fit enough to start after coming on as a substitute in the Premier League this week.
