Spain and Serbia will be up against each other in a Group B clash that should be fun to watch. However, two of the best players from Spain and Serbia – Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are not taking part in the Davis Cup this year.
Team Spain
Spain has sent a formidable team to the Davis Cup. Carlos Alcaraz is a part of the team but the new World No. 1 might not be seen in action right away after his exhausting yet triumphant run at the recently-concluded US Open. The likes of Roberto Bautista Agut and Albert Ramos-Vinolas will shoulder the responsibilities in the star-studded team. The other members are Pedro Martinez and Marcel Granollers. The captain of the team is Sergi Bruguera.
Spain won the tournament on six occasions – 2000, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2019. They finished second on four occasions – 1965, 1967, 2003, and 2012.
Best player – Carlos Alcaraz
Team Serbia
World No. 33 Miomir Kecmanovic and World No. 41 Filip Krajinovic are the players to look out for in the Serbian team. Winston-Salem Open finalist – Laslo Djere and Dusan Lajovic are also good players in a well-balanced squad. The team captained by Viktor Troicki also has the experienced doubles player Nikola Cacic in their ranks.
Serbia has only won the Davis Cup on one previous occasion. It was back in 2010. They also finished second three years later in 2013.
Best player – Miomir Kecmanovic
Prediction: Spain seems one of the strongest teams on paper and should get the win against Serbia.
