Is Dean Ambrose returning to WWE?

Published by

Dean Ambrose was a member of the immensely popular stable known as The Shield alongside Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins during his time in WWE

Currently, Dean Ambrose is signed to AEW where he wrestles under the ring name Jon Moxley. He is a member of the Blackpool Combat Club alongside the American Dragon Bryan Danielson, who himself is a former WWE superstar.

Moxley’s WWE contract expired on April 30, 2019. The 36-year-old left WWE with a bad taste in the mouth as he wasn’t happy with the way his character was being booked. He made his AEW debut on May 26, 2019, when he attacked Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega at AEW Double or Nothing event.

Moxley reached the pinnacle of success in AEW very early in his time at the company as he defeated Jericho at AEW Revolution on February 29, 2020, to win the AEW World Championship. There have been speculations regarding Moxley’s possible return to WWE, but for now, he is happy to be in AEW. Recently his character took a new direction as he formed a team with his former rival Bryan Danielson and they are managed by former WWE legend William Regal.

Moxley has been known for his liking to produce brutal and intense matches. He didn’t get that much freedom in WWE to assemble such matches though. However, in AEW, Moxley’s matches revolve around gruelling action and wrestlers sporting the crimson mask.

Jon Moxley might not be returning to WWE anytime soon but the probability of that happening in the future can’t be overruled completely. Take the example of Cody Rhodes, who also left WWE after getting frustrated with how his Stardust gimmick was shaping up. The American Nightmare, however, made his return to WWE at WrestleMania this year.
