De’Andre Hunter Career
Hunter started playing basketball in his high school, Friends’ Central School. At the end of his junior year, he averaged 21.6 points with 11 rebounds and 5 assists per game. He was given a four-star recruit ranking. He joined Virginia University by rejecting all the other offers. In his redshirt freshman season, at the last minute, Hunter scored a three-pointer and helped his team to win the match against Louisville.
At the end of his sophomore season, Hunter averaged 15.2 points with 5.1 rebounds per game. He played a major role in helping Virginia to reach the number-one position in the 2019 NCAA tournament. After completing his second season with Virginia, Hunter entered the 2019 NBA draft. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers as the 4th overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft.
But was later traded to the New Orleans Pelicans and then to the Atlanta Hawks. He made his NBA debut against Detroit Pistons and scored 14 points with 2 rebounds. In a match against Milwaukee Bucks, he scored a humongous 33 points and set his career-high record. During the All-Star break, he averaged 17.2 points with 5.4 rebounds per game.
