Following a minor blip against Nate Diaz in 2016, McGregor went on to become a two-division champion after beating Eddie Alvarez in November 2016 (at UFC 205).
Since then his appearances in the UFC have been sporadic. He fought Floyd Mayweather in a boxing fight in the year 2017, which he lost.
A year later he fought Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, which he once again lost. After fifteen months, he made a winning return against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January 2020.
A year later he faced Dustin Poirier and was handed the first-ever knockout loss of his career.
