4th seed Miomir Kecmanovic takes on Marcos Giron in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Delray Beach Open on Friday.
Miomir Kecmanovic
The Serbian youngster did not have great campaigns in the Australian Open and the subsequent Dallas Open as he was ousted in the first rounds on both occasions. However, he has started strongly in the Delray Beach Open and managed to reach the quarterfinals of a tournament for the second time this year.
Kecmanovic received a bye into the second round. Portuguese star Nuno Borges was his opponent in the second round. Kecmanovic played well to bag the first set without much fuss. Things were tighter in the second set but the 23-year-old managed to hold his nerves to win the match 6-3, 7-5. He had a decent win percentage of 76 on the first serve.
Marcos Giron
The 29-year-old has managed to reach his third quarterfinals in 2023 and second in a row. Giron lost in the quarterfinals in the ASB Classic and the Dallas Open and will hope to overcome the last-8 hurdle this time.
So far, Giron has been quite clinical in the two matches he has played in the tournament. He opened his campaign in the round of 32 where he defeated 8th seed Ben Shelton 6-4, 6-4 with a solid display. In the second round, Giron made light work of Matija Pecotic. The match ended 6-3, 6-3 in favor of the American star. He has served superbly in the two matches that he has played and will hope to continue with more of the same going forward.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 1-0 in favor of Marcos Giron. He defeated Kecmanovic in three sets in a qualifying match of the 2019 BNP Paribas Open.
Prediction: Marcos Giron to win in three sets.
