2nd seed Tommy Paul locks horns with Moldova veteran Radu Albot in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Delray Beach Open on Friday.
The American tennis pro is playing with a lot of confidence as of late. His performances have been quite impressive as well. He came into the tournament after reaching his first-ever Grand Slam semifinal in the Australian Open.
After receiving a bye into the second round, Paul faced compatriot Denis Kudla. The 25-year-old put on a solid display to defeat Kudla in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Paul converted 3 out of 4 break points. However, he has played better tennis this season. Paul has served quite well and will give his opponents a tough time in the matches to come.
The 33-year-old came into the tournament on the back of an exit in the round of 16 of the Dallas Open. He has showed a lot of grit and determination in his two wins so far in the Delray Beach Open.
In the round of 32, Albot defeated 39-year-old Spanish veteran Fernando Verdasco in two competitive sets 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-1). Albot followed it up with another fine win against Aleksandar Vukic in the second round. The match ended 6-4, 6-4.
Tommy Paul has an unblemished 2-0 record against Radu Albot in the head-to-head scoreline.
